By May the children always begin turning into wild animals as they sense the approach of summer and the days really heat up to the point that only a cool pool provides relief. For Avery, May brought another distraction though: the Second Grade Class Play. As part of her curriculum, she has drama/music twice a week. The school has a small stage above the old gymnasium that was transformed into beautiful scenery for Disney’s Jungle Book story.
Avery was one of the elephants and she LOVED every minute of the production. Carol came down for the show and Cole was right down in front cheering on Avery. He was ready to hand her flowers at the end, which Avery proceeded to give them to the two teachers that organized the play . It was too cute and I was glad we captured it on tape to enjoy at some yet-to-be-determined first date, graduation party, etc.
Memorial Day followed soon after with our nearly annual trip to our friend’s, Ed & Amy, house to cool off in their wonderful pool. The father’s take turns tossing the kids into the pool, which is become more of a workout each year. Sooner the cheers for the WAVE came and the fathers accommodated with synchronized cannonballs. A great time was had by all.
